Dr Lakmal is a female Family Medicine and General Practice specialist and a member of RACGP with a broad range of clinical experience and a genuine passion for providing compassionate, comprehensive, and patient-centred care.
She graduated from the University of Colombo in 2008 and has been practising in Australia since 2011, gaining extensive experience across a wide range of medical specialties and hospital settings throughout Western Australia.
As an Advanced Associate of the Australian College for Emergency Medicine (AACEM), Dr Lakmal has expertise in emergency medicine, including the assessment and management of acute medical conditions, accidents, injuries, cardiovascular emergencies, and stroke presentations. Her diverse hospital experience across emergency medicine, general medicine, surgery, paediatrics, and women's health enables her to provide holistic care to patients of all ages and backgrounds. Beyond her clinical practice,
Dr Lakmal is passionate about medical education and professional development. She works as an examiner and mentor for medical students at the University of Western Australia, contributing to the development of future generations of doctors.
Outside medicine, she enjoys art and creative pursuits, which complement her belief in the importance of balance, dedication, and lifelong learning. She believes that persistence, commitment, and a strong doctor–patient relationship are fundamental to achieving better health outcomes.
